D-Link AC1750 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router (DIR-867) Review & Configure
D-Link DIR-867
D-Link company is one of the earliest manufacturers of consumer networking equipment. You may probably hear of D-Link before. D-Link recently released the DIR-867 wireless best budget router. It comes with the latest specifications, and the price is affordable.
High-Speed Dual Band Wi-F- for Multiple Simultaneous Connections
- Simultaneous Dual-Band: Deliver faster W-Fi speed of up to 1750 Mbps (450 Mbps on 2.4 GHz + 1300 Mbps on 5GHz)
- Powerful Wi-Fi Performance: Stream HD multimedia across your home without interruption using wireless and wired speeds.
- MU-MIMO: Simultaneous streaming on multiple devices
- Dual-Core Processor: Dual Core Processor for the fastest network speed for a more powerful router.
- Advanced AC SmarBeam: Bring dead zones back to life by providing beams of bandwidth.
- Gigabit Wired Speed:
- High-Performance Antennas: 4 high-performance antennas that deliver maximum range around your home
Practical Design And Features
The DIR-867 is a 3 cross 3 dual-band router powered by 128MB of flash memory, dual-core 880MHz CPU and 128 MB of RAM, which is amazing. It is capable of speeds of up to 1300 Mbps on the 5GHz band. It supports 802.11ac Wave 2 technology including direct-to-client signal transmission, or beamforming, and MU-MIMO data streaming. DIR-867 provides a smart connection option, through which you can choose the best radio band based on current network activity.
D-Link interface is still mostly like the old D-Link router interface but more refined now. It works a lot better than compared to the previous D-Link interface. D-Link DIR-867 is also compatible with TIME, Unifi, Maxis, and other major ISPs. I do not face any issues with the firmware; it works very well.

HD Streaming and Gaming on Multiple Devices
The AC1750 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Gigabit Router delivers reliable and powerful performance for users who demand faster Wi-Fi speeds for online gaming on multiple devices and for HD streaming. It powerful high gain antennas to provide great coverage. Ther Router is designed to supports 3X3 streams MU-MIMO technology that allows multiple devices to get bandwidth wi-fi signals at the same time in your home.
Hardware Specifications
The main thing while buying a Router is its specifications. In this matter, DIR-867 doesn’t disappoint. The Router can support a maximum link speed of up to 1300 Mbps on the 5GHz band and 450Mbps on the 2.4GHz group. With that, it comes with Wireless AC1750 with support for beamforming and MU-MIMO.You can reach an actual speed up to 700Mbps over wireless AC 5GHz if you have the right device which supports the AC1750 specifications. For that, you will need a 3 stream Wireless AC adapter. A 3 stream Wireless AC adapter such as D-Link’s DWA-192, which supports up to AC1900.As our Internets are faster than 100Mbps, D-Link DIR-867 provides all Gigabit Ethernet ports. There is no USB port because many people don’t use this feature, and an increase in port also causes an increase in price.
D-Link DIR-867 Unifi Configuration
The D-Link DIR-867 supports Unifi with HyppTV working. Your HyppTV must be connected to LAN port 4 for working. And you may also need to update your firmware for the sake of the same interface.
Performance
WAN Performance
To know how maximum your Router supports speed, then you must perform a WAN to LAN speed test in a simulated environment. You must speed analysis it with an actual Gigabit internal connection because having Gigabit Ethernet ports doesn’t mean that your Router will support a 1000Mbps Internet connection.
DIR-867 2.4GHz Long Distance
DIR-867 2GHz short distance
DIR-867 5GHz Long Distance
DIR-867 5GHz short distance
In my record, this Router has no issue in the running upwards of 900 Mbps on my Gigabit Internet connection. D-Link DIR-867 can deliver Unifi 800Mbps and providing the TIME 1000Mbps plan.
Wireless Performance
DIR-867 gives an interesting performance. At a short distance, DIR-867 provides a top speed of 500Mbps on speedtest.net. And in my record on simulated test DIR-867 provides 550Mbps. Surprisingly DIR-867 is pushing 475Mbps on my simulated test and 455Mbps on speedtest.net. These performances are signs of good circuitry.
DIR-867 comes with a really good Wireless ability, provides more than 100Mbps on both the short and long-distance range tests. The 2.4Ghz performance is very good on the DIR-867 router. Wireless coverage is also commendable and is on the top of the line in gaming routers.
Above all experiments are tested on my laptop. I use an AC1200 wireless adapter, so the maximum wireless speed is around 500Mbps. DIR-867 is designed to automatically balance devices between 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz.
Closing Thoughts:
D-Link can beat even some high-end routers, no DIR-867 this router is a mid-range router. The CPU which is used in this router can support an internet connection over wired LAN to up to 1000 Mbps. Which means you can use it with TIME 1000Mbps and Unifi 800Mbps. DIR-867 has a powerful Wi-Fi connection with good speed and range.Despite described above all features, DIR-867 is still far from premium routers such as antivirus and advanced QoS. Because antivirus and advanced QoS offer more features. But if your demand is just good Wi-Fi coverage and speeds internet then DIR-867 is the best option.
The Router configuration can be done by using the D-Link Wi-Fi mobile app for iOS and Android and by using a web-based console. Web console for DIR-867 is the same as for other D-Link routers. The Home screen contains a network map, connection type, connection uptime, internet stats such as MAC addresses and IP addresses, and default gateway.
Along the top of the screen are Management tabs, Home settings, and features. The Settings tab gives you access to internet Settings such as Connection Type(PPPoE, L2TP, DHCP, Static), Setup Wizard, IPv4/IPv6 settings, and VLAN. Wireless settings include Security Mode (WPA/WPA2), Channel Width, Wi-Fi Channel, Smart Connect, Password, SSID, Transmission Power, Channel Width, and Guest Zone(guest networking). Through the use of Network Settings, you can change WAN Port speed settings, LAN IP Address, Tweak DHCP, and Subnet Mask Settings.
Use the Features tab to access the drag and drop QoS settings. By using QoS settings you can assign maximum bandwidth to clients that need it most, configure Port Forwarding, enable firewall settings, and Quick VPN settings. DIR-867 also provides network access scheduling and website filtering. Through Management settings you can change passwords, view system logs, monitor network traffic, update firmware, and create access schedules.
